Set up Outlook

1. Open ‘Microsoft Outlook’ [2] from the Applications folder [1]. If you have not yet installed Microsoft Outlook on your computer, please follow these instructions.

   

2. First select ‘Allow’ for notifications [1]. Then enter your ETH username@ethz.ch in the email field [2] (not your D-ARCH email address!). Then click ‘Continue’ [3].

   

3. If an account with your username was found, the following windows should appear. Enter your ETH username@ethz.ch [1] and your ETH standard password [2]. Then click ‘Sign in’ [3]. In the next window, enter your OTP [4] and click ‘Send’ [5]. Complete the configuration by clicking ‘Done’ [6] in the last window.

   

4. The configuration is now complete and you can personalise [1] your Outlook as you wish [2], [3] and [4]. Finally, allow notifications to be set to ‘Silent’ if you have set a ‘Focus’ [5].

   

5. Microsoft Outlook is now ready for you to use.

   

To use the new mail server, the Department of Architecture recommends using the latest Office version, currently Outlook 365.

The new webmail is available at https://outlook.office.com.

If you do not have an email account set up on your device yet, you can start right away with step 1.

If you want to remove an existing account, please follow the external instructions from Microsoft:

Remove existing account (external link)

1. Open the program ‘Outlook’ (Windows key → Outlook) and enter your ETH username in the form username@ethz.ch, even if you are a student.

2. Now click ‘Connect’.

   

3. You will be redirected to the ETH login. Log in with username@ethz.ch and your ETH standard password (Mail, Server, ETHIS).

   

4. Enter the MFA/OTP code from the Authenticator app on your mobile device.

   

5. Untick the highlighted box. Click ‘OK’.

   

6. Click ‘Done’.

   

7. Do not tick ‘Set up Outlook Mobile on my phone, too’. Click ‘Done’.

   

Additionally: If a ‘Windows Security’ dialog appears when Outlook starts, enter your ETH standard password and tick the box ‘Remember my credentials’.

1. Open the ‘App Store’ and search for ‘microsoft outlook’ [1]. Then tap ‘Get’ [2].

   

2. Tap ‘Install’ [1].

   

3. Enter your ‘Apple Account’ password [1] and tap ‘Sign in’ [2].

   

4. If you wish, you can save [1] your ‘Apple Account’ password for all free software here (optional).

   

5. Outlook is now ready for configuration. Open the ‘Outlook’ app [1].

   

6. Tap ‘Add account’ [1].

   

7. In the next window, enter ‘username@ethz.ch’ [1] and tap ‘Add account’ [2].

   

8. ‘username@ethz.ch’ [1] should now already be entered. Enter your ETH standard password [2] below and tap ‘Sign in’ [3].

   

9. Now enter your OTP (One Time Password) [1] and tap ‘Send’ [2].

   

10. Your Outlook is now configured and you can select ‘Maybe later’ [1].

    

11. Finally, you can switch on notifications by tapping ‘Turn on’ [1] and then ‘Allow’ [2]. Your Outlook is now ready for you to use.
