Adobe Creative Cloud

How to order, install and activate your personal Adobe Creative Cloud licence (including Acrobat Pro) with your ETH account.

Summary for Staff

  • Order a personal licence from the ETH IT Shop
  • Download and install Creative Cloud Desktop (macOS / Windows)
  • Log in and activate with username@ethz.ch and your ETH password

1. Order personal license (staff)

  1. Go to the ETH Zurich IT Shop at https://itshop.ethz.ch and click on the «Login» button [1]. Sign in with your ETH username [2] and your ETH password (the same as you use for mail, server, etc.) [3]. Then click on the «Sign in» button [4].

  2. Click on «Service Catalog» [1], then on «Software & Licenses» [2]. Choose «Order Software Product» [3].

  3. Search for «Adobe» [1]. Select «Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps CC DC» [2] and then click on «Next Step» [3].

  4. Search for your chair, your organisation or your cost centre [1], see also the list. Select your cost centre [2] and your budget manager [3]. Then click on «Next Step» [4]. If you have any questions, please contact the IT representative of your chair.

  5. Complete your order by accepting the licence agreement [1] and then click on «Next Step» [2].

  6. Check your order and click on «Submit Request» [1].

  7. Click on «OK» [1]. Now you have to wait until your budget manager has approved your order.

  8. After the budget manager of your chair/section has approved the request (this may take some time), you will receive an e-mail from Adobe. This is a standard e-mail and does not apply to ETH Zurich. Please ignore this e-mail and do not click on the «Get Started» button [1]! Wait for the official e-mail from the ETH IT Shop instead (see step 9).

  9. Wait until you receive the confirmation e-mail from the IT Shop. Your Adobe licence is not active before that!

2. Download and install Creative Cloud Desktop

3. Log in and activate the licence

  1. Now you can sign in with your ETH username@ethz.ch [1] (important: not your e-mail address!) and click on «Continue» (Weiter) [2].

  2. Now enter your ETH username@ethz.ch [1] and your ETH password (the same as you use for mail, server, etc.) [2].

  3. Now enter your ETH One Time Password [1] and click on «Submit» (Senden) [2]. If you have not yet generated your ETH One Time Password for multi-factor authentication (MFA), click on [3] and follow the instructions.

  4. Congratulations, you did it! Now you can download and install Adobe software or update your existing programs (only newer versions) [1].

  5. Closing remarks: You can install Adobe Creative Cloud applications on any number of computers, but you can only use an application on two devices at the same time. Example Adobe Photoshop: it can be opened on your laptop (device A) and simultaneously on your desktop computer (device B), but then on no other device (C). To use Photoshop on another device (C), you must sign out either on your laptop (A) or on your desktop computer (B) within the Adobe CC app [1].

System requirements: The current Adobe CC programs run on macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) or later. We recommend installing macOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) or higher. On this page you will find everything you need to know about this topic, including download links.

1. After downloading the Adobe Creative Cloud Installer: double-click the .dmg file [1], then double-click the folder [2] and follow the instructions.

2. After the successful installation you will find the «Adobe Creative Cloud» folder [2] in the «Applications» folder [1]. Now start the application [3] with a double-click.

Go back and finish the procedure with «Log in and activate».
