Set up assistant office printers
How to set up an assistant office printer (standalone printer) on macOS or Windows: on macOS with the driver from our server, on Windows as a TCP/IP printer using its hostname.
Standalone printers
Download the corresponding driver from our server:
smb://arch-server.ethz.ch → software → mitarbeitende → Mac → Treiber → Xerox …
Run the setup and enter the printer name as shown in the screenshot below:
Printer installation under Windows

Search for «Printers & scanners» in the Start menu and open it.

Click «Add a printer or scanner».

Windows now searches for available printers on the network. The D-ARCH printers will not be listed. Choose «The printer that I want isn't listed» instead.

Choose «Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings».

Select «Create a new port», then choose «Standard TCP/IP Port».

Enter the hostname of the printer. You can find it on the physical printer. Make sure the printer is turned on.

Wait a moment.

This window may appear if the printer is not reachable or is turned off. Just click «Next».

Choose the correct printer driver and click «Next».

If your printer driver isn't listed, click «Windows Update» and Windows will download a large number of additional printer drivers.

Enter a name so that you can recognise your printer later.

Choose «Do not share this printer».

Choose whether you want to set this printer as your default printer and whether you want to print a test page.
