Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching
To use Microsoft Software for free (e.g. Windows 10), first you have to order the «Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching»-Portal-Access on the site of IT Shop itshop.ethz.ch. First login, then search for «Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching».
A) Search for Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching
B) Follow the instructions in the email and login on the devtoolspage
C) Get your Windows serial number and download the «.iso»-File
- Search for «Education» [1]. Then click on «Education» [2] below. If you are already in the Education Section go to step 2.
2. Be sure to be in the «Education» section [1] and click on «See all software» [2].
3. Search for «Education»[1] again and choose «Windows 10 Education» [2]. Show «license key» [3] and note it or copy it to your clipboard. Click on «Generate URL» [4] to show download link and copy it to your browser to download the Windows 10 ISO file.

Note: If you want to use Windows with Parallels on Mac, you can also download the Windows ISO during Parallels installation.
D) You are now ready to install Windows
Important: When the Installation is done and the Screen «Sign in with Microsoft» appears, don’t enter your Emailadress, choose «Domain join instead» (Bottom left)
Install Windows 10 on the Mac
If you want to install Windows 10 on your Mac, there are several options:
Boot Camp: Boot Camp requires a Mac with Intel processor. Windows will be installed on a separate partition of your hard disk. Advantage: You use the full hardware power of your Mac. Disadvantage: You have to choose which operating system you want to use at startup.
The BootCamp software is preinstalled on your Mac under Applications –> Utilities –> Boot Camp Wizard
Important: When the Installation is done and the Screen «Sign in with Microsoft» appears, don’t enter your Email-adress, choose «Domain join instead» (Bottom left)
Parallels: Can be purchased for a fee on the ETH website IT-Shop. Advantage: You can start Windows under macOS and use both operating systems at the same time. Disadvantage: Windows cannot use the full hardware power of your Mac.
